Why We Love Our Umbrella Stroller

I know umbrella strollers get a bad rap, but if you feel that way, you haven't tried a Maclaren stroller. It packs all the bells and whistles of a full-size into a compact umbrella stroller. We have both the Quest Arc and the Twin Techno (a double stroller).

Here's why I love our Quest Arc

The Quest Arc is very lightweight, coming in at less than 14lbs. It has a quick grab and go handle on the side or a shoulder strap for easy carrying. The one hand open & close makes it easy on the go, especially at the end of the jetway.

The hood is huge by any stroller standard. It is 50 UPF and water resistant giving good weather protection. All Maclaren strollers come with a rain cover, too. The large basket stores a good amount - we put our baby carrier and portable highchair in it without issue. There are other add-ons to make things easier, too. A parent caddy, cupholder, and footmuff are all available.

The seat cover is machine washable, ideal for young children. There are also disposable and cloth seat liners available. When our youngest was a baby, we used a liner because he had terrible reflex. It gave us two layers in case of a issue while we were out and about.

I love the bar handle, a rare find on an umbrella stroller. It lets you push with a single hand leaving your other hand free for sipping coffee or holding another child's hand. Four-wheel suspension gives your little a good ride and a smoother pushing experience. The 360° swivel front wheels make handling easy.

The Quest Arc has serious longevity. Suitable for newborns, the high weight limit (25kg or 55lbs) allows for much older children. The seat is well supported and has four positions. It reclines flat allowing for naps on the go. The foot rest folds up and down to provide a more comfortable ride for older children.

Maclaren customer service is excellent, not to mention a lifetime warranty and replaceable parts for quick repairs. This is a huge boon for regular travelers as airline damage seems nearly inevitable. Last year, an airline damaged the stroller when the bag and stroller got caught in the baggage belt, shredding the bag and breaking the hood. Maclaren quickly identified the part and overnighted it to us in Italy. The airline paid the invoice that Maclaren provided and we didn't miss a beat.
